Tian Tian Market is an Asian supermarket chain based in London. Founded in 2016, it has 12 outlets around the capital, with a flagship store located at Canary Wharf.

The company specialises in premium, niche groceries sourced from over 25 countries across East and South-East Asia. With more than 10,000 food, drink and lifestyle products in stock, it sets out to provide a one-stop ‘foodie paradise’ and a unique shopping experience that combines convenience with an exotic culinary journey.

The Challenge – POS with Style

Tian Tian Market takes the aesthetics of its stores very seriously. Customers are treated to in-store environments that combine clean, modern layouts with tastefully chosen traditional touches. The effect is both warm and welcoming, and functional and pragmatic.

The aesthetic considerations extend to Tian Tian Market’s choice of POS. Far from the bland checkout lanes typical of most supermarkets, Tian Tian Market is at pains to make its POS areas attractive and appealing. And that has had a big influence on its choice of POS system.

The Solution

The company’s relationship with AURES started in 2020 after Tian Tian Market’s Rae Clarke saw AURES hardware in use at another store. “I first came to know about the company when I visited another retailer and they happened to be using an AURES POS that looked very classy,” said Rae. “That captured my attention to find out more.”

Rae contacted us with a brief for POS units that were “stylish and small”. We recommended the YUNO II, one of our flagship all-in-one terminals. Powerful and reliable, one of the most common compliments we get for the YUNO range is how good the units look. With their compact modern design, YUNO terminals have proven to be our biggest sellers in retail.

In all, we supplied 57 YUNO II terminals to Tian Tian Market, with three or four units per store, plus 11 checkouts at its flagship Canary Wharf store. Each unit was supplied with an ODP333 printer and a 10” customer-facing screen.

Outcomes

Commenting on the impact of deploying AURES POS terminals across the business, Rae said: “AURES makes good quality, reliable products. We have been using the same hardware for more than four years now and nothing serious has gone wrong. The hardware we are using serves its purpose, the processing power is more than reasonable and the slim aesthetic means it fits well into our store design. Plus, the customer-facing screens mean customers can easily see the information they need, which they love.

“It’s been a pleasure working with AURES, they have a good line up of POS systems and I can’t fault them. Their hardware is very robust. Supplies are widely available, and their support team are on hand to assist with any hardware issues that arise. If anyone was to ask me about POS systems, I would certainly point them to AURES.”
